Minister of Higher Education Honors Winners of the National University Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Competition
Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Abdul-Hussein Al-Mousawi, honored the winners of the National University Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Competition.
In a speech delivered during the ceremony, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research emphasized that the value of university competitions lies in giving knowledge a practical dimension and encouraging students to adopt systematic approaches to problem-solving. He noted that working with artificial intelligence and robotic systems is no longer a limited academic choice, but has become part of the future of broad sectors of the economy, industry, healthcare, education, and services.
He added that when university education is combined with practical experience and application, it produces knowledge that can be transformed into solutions and applications that serve people and society. He explained that the competition provided a scientific platform where ideas met challenges and theory met practice, placing students in the position of designing their projects, testing their feasibility, and defending their results.
The Minister also highlighted the importance of the university’s role in building a scientific foundation capable of embracing these transformations and moving from consumption to production and development. He explained that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is working to expand the presence of technological applications within the university environment, link scientific activities to societal needs, and create opportunities for projects that can move from the laboratory into real-world applications.
The Minister congratulated the teams and students who achieved top positions, commending the models and projects presented by the participants, as well as the efforts of faculty members, supervisors, and scientific and organizational committees responsible for preparing and managing the competition.
He affirmed that Iraqi universities possess a strong scientific foundation that deserves greater opportunities to showcase its capabilities and compete, noting that the Ministry will continue supporting such initiatives in ways that reinforce the university’s role as an institution for knowledge production, talent development, and meeting the demands of the future.
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research also opened the Promising Projects Exhibition held as part of the competition’s activities, reviewing a number of projects in robotics and artificial intelligence applications. He listened to students explain their ideas, operating mechanisms, potential for further development, and possible applications in areas that address societal needs and provide practical solutions to its challenges.
The closing ceremony featured two documentary films. The first reviewed the preparations for the competition, its various stages, and the participation of universities and students, while the second showcased selected projects in robotics and artificial intelligence, highlighting their ideas and applications with potential for further development and practical use.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Abdul-Hussein Al-Mousawi honored the winning teams and students who achieved top positions, emphasizing the importance of continuing to develop their projects and transforming them into applications and initiatives that provide practical solutions serving society.
