University of Basrah Climbs 61 Places in the 2026 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings

University of Basrah has advanced in the 2026 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, placing 12th nationally among 92 participating Iraqi universities and 372nd globally among 1,745 participating universities.

The achievement reflects the university’s continued efforts to improve its performance across sustainability and campus environment indicators. Compared with the previous year’s results, the university advanced by two places nationally, 24 places in Asia, and 61 places globally.

President of University of Basrah, Dr. Fadhil Al-Dahan, commended the efforts of the Rankings Team and all university departments and formations that contributed to this progress, emphasizing the importance of continuing to improve sustainability indicators and strengthen environmental practices across the university in ways that reinforce University of Basrah’s standing and presence at the national, regional, and international levels.

Al-Dahan also congratulated all faculty members, staff, and students on the achievement, expressing his hope that the university will continue to make further progress in future rankings and assessments.
