Master's Thesis at the University of Basrah Explores the Design of a Machine for Dusting Palm Trees
A master's thesis at the College of Agriculture, University of Basrah, explored the design, manufacturing, and testing of a machine for dusting palm trees using compressed air to combat the palm dust mite.
The thesis, presented by researcher Radhwan Falah Mohammed, aimed to develop a machine that uniformly disperses dry sulfur powder onto palm trees and to evaluate its effectiveness in pest control.
The study included testing the effect of the geometric shapes of the powder discharge gates and operating pressure levels on the working width, distribution uniformity, coverage efficiency, and control effectiveness, as well as measuring operational and economic indicators and noise levels.
The study recommended adopting the developed machine and further developing its design to enhance the efficiency of agricultural mechanization and palm pest control.
