Master’s Thesis at the University of Basrah Examines Soil–Foundation Interaction in Reinforced Concrete Buildings
A master’s thesis at the College of Engineering, University of Basrah, examined the effects of soil–foundation interaction on multi-story reinforced concrete buildings.
The thesis, presented by student Hussein Ali Faisal, aimed to investigate the effects of soil–foundation interaction on variations in axial force, bending moment, and shear force generated in structural elements.
The thesis comprised four chapters, in which the researcher discussed the axial forces, bending moments, and shear forces generated in the structural elements of multi-story reinforced concrete buildings, highlighting their significant sensitivity to soil–foundation interaction compared with those in buildings with fixed-base conditions.
