University of Basrah Investigates the Effect of Propolis Gel on Hard Palate Wound Healing
A PhD dissertation at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Basrah, investigated the effect of propolis gel in accelerating the healing of hard palate wounds in rabbits by monitoring histological and immunohistochemical changes at different stages of the healing process.
The study, presented by researcher Aseel Kamel Hameed, aimed to evaluate the therapeutic role of propolis gel and its effectiveness in accelerating the healing of hard palate wounds and improving the histological changes resulting from the injury.
The dissertation involved an experiment conducted on 48 rabbits, which were divided into control and propolis gel treatment groups. The animals were monitored over periods of 3, 7, 14, and 21 days. Histological and immunohistochemical examinations were also conducted to assess the different stages of wound healing.
The study concluded that the use of propolis gel contributes to accelerating the healing of hard palate wounds and improving histological changes throughout the different stages of healing, with a clear treatment effect observed during the study periods.
