University of Basrah Carries Out Comprehensive Maintenance Campaign Ahead of the New Academic Year
The Marine Science Center at the University of Basrah has carried out a comprehensive maintenance campaign covering its buildings and facilities as part of its preparations for the 2026–2027 academic year, with the aim of providing a safe and healthy educational environment for researchers.
The maintenance work aimed to protect lives, prevent potential hazards within the building and laboratories, reduce unexpected breakdowns that could disrupt work and the educational process, and provide a calm and comfortable environment that helps researchers focus and pursue their academic work.
The campaign included servicing air-conditioning units to ensure the comfort of staff, inspecting electrical wiring and upgrading connections, and replacing faulty lighting fixtures. It also covered plumbing repairs, maintenance of sewage lines, and sanitation of restrooms.
The work also included repairing and arranging seats and tables, maintaining doors and windows, inspecting fire extinguishers, and testing alarm systems to ensure the highest safety standards. In addition, trees were trimmed, gardens maintained, and canopies and shelters repaired.
