Master's Thesis at the University of Basrah Examines Scour Around Pile Groups
A Master's thesis at the College of Engineering, University of Basrah, investigated an experimental study on scour around pile groups of various arrangements.
The thesis, presented by student Mustafa Awad Chatheer, aimed to experimentally investigate local scour around single piles and pile groups under clear-water flow conditions, focusing on the effects of pile shape, flow intensity, pile group arrangement, temporal scour evolution, and spatial scour distribution.
The thesis comprised five chapters, during which the student discussed completing the experimental program in a dedicated laboratory designed and built by the student, equipped with a closed-loop continuous flow open-channel flume containing a uniform, non-cohesive sand bed.
