University of Basrah Organizes Workshop on Health Awareness and its Role in Reducing Zoonotic Diseases
The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basrah organized a scientific workshop highlighting the direct relationship between community health awareness and reducing the spread of zoonotic diseases, as well as the role of education in promoting community prevention.
The workshop featured a series of lectures delivered by a select group of faculty members, addressing the most prominent zoonotic diseases and their transmission mechanisms, in addition to reviewing methods of prevention.
The lecturers also emphasized the importance of integration and cooperation between health and veterinary institutions to protect public health, noting that raising awareness is the cornerstone of implementing the "One Health" concept, which links human, animal, and environmental health.
The workshop concluded with a recommendation to intensify awareness and guidance programs and activities for various segments of society, enhance cooperation between the academic, health, and veterinary sectors, and disseminate health education to reduce the risks and impacts of zoonotic diseases.
