University of Basrah Coordinates with Local Government to Launch "Nafas Basrah" Initiative
The University of Basrah has coordinated with the local government of Basrah Governorate to launch an afforestation campaign aimed at planting 1,000 trees across various university sites, as part of the "Nafas Basrah" initiative designed to expand green spaces and enhance the local environment.
Under the directives of the Administrative Deputy Governor of Basrah, Mr. Maher Al-Amiri, a team from the Follow-Up Unit visited the Garma Ali Campus at the University of Basrah. During the visit, joint coordination was established with the university presidency to outline the execution of the afforestation works and designate suitable planting sites.
The initiative is anticipated to foster environmental sustainability across university grounds, laying the groundwork for transforming them into expansive green spaces over the coming years. Officials stressed the vital importance of backing the initiative and promoting community engagement to ensure its long-term success.
