Master's Thesis at the University of Basrah Examines the Environmental Characteristics of Water Bodies
A master's thesis at the College of Marine Sciences, University of Basrah, examined some of the environmental characteristics of water, sediments, and reeds in water bodies in southern Iraq.
The thesis, submitted by student Anwar Suhail Qadouri, aimed to assess the environmental status of some water bodies in Basra Governorate by measuring the environmental characteristics of the water and estimating nutrient levels.
The thesis comprised four chapters in which the student discussed the clear spatial and seasonal variations in the environmental characteristics of the water, noting a significant increase in the levels of total nitrogen and total phosphorus, as well as cadmium, nickel, and lead in the water, sediments, and reeds.
