Master’s Thesis at the University of Basrah Examines Serum Expressions as Diagnostic and Prognostic Biomarkers for Breast Cancer
A master’s thesis at the College of Pharmacy, University of Basrah, investigated the serum expression of CCN6, VEGF-A, and NF-kappaB p65 and their histopathological associations in breast cancer as potential diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers: a case-control study.
The thesis, presented by student Marwa Munther Homan, aimed to measure the concurrent serum levels of these biomarkers in women with breast cancer, investigate their diagnostic and prognostic value and their associations with clinicopathological characteristics, and compare their diagnostic performance with that of the conventional tumor marker to improve the accuracy of early diagnosis.
The thesis comprised four chapters, in which the student presented a retrospective analytical case-control study conducted at the Oncology Center of Al-Sadr Teaching Hospital in Basrah Governorate. The study included 180 women.
