Master's Thesis at the University of Basrah Examines the Yamama Formation in the Halfaya Oil Field
A master's thesis at the College of Science, University of Basra, investigated the petrophysical properties of the Yamama Formation in the Halfaya oil field in southern Iraq.
The thesis, submitted by student Hussein Abdul-Amir Abdul-Wahid, aimed to characterize the lithological, stratigraphic, and petrophysical properties of the Yamama Formation in the Halfaya field through the interpretation of wellbore logs and drilling cuttings.
The thesis comprised four chapters in which the student discussed petrographic and mineralogical analyses using thin-film scattering and scanning electron microscopy, analysis of clay minerals using gamma-ray spectroscopy data, and the construction of a three-dimensional petrophysical model.
