University of Basrah President Receives Head of the Provincial Council’s Agriculture Committee to Discuss Cooperation in Agriculture and Water Resources
Prof. Dr. Aqeel Fadhil Hamad Al-Dahan, President of the University of Basrah, received Mohammed Falih Al-Battat, a member of the Basrah Provincial Council and head of its Agriculture, Water Resources and Marshlands Revitalization Committee. The meeting was attended by Dr. Ayman Saleh Ni’ma, Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs, and focused on establishing a foundation for scientific and practical cooperation between the local government and the university.
The meeting addressed opportunities for direct collaboration to tackle water scarcity and salinity, develop modern strategies for advancing the agricultural sector, and revitalize the marshlands. Discussions also emphasized the use of academic research and consultancy services provided by the university’s scientific centers and specialized colleges to support sustainable development projects across the governorate.
Prof. Dr. Al-Dahan expressed the university’s readiness to make its academic and research expertise and resources available to support the governorate’s executive and service institutions and help improve Basrah’s environmental and agricultural conditions.
