University of Basrah Discusses Strengthening Academic and Agricultural Cooperation with French Embassy Attaché
The President of the University of Basrah, Professor Dr. Aqeel Fadhil Al-Dahhan, and the Dean of the College of Agriculture, Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Mohammed Al-Shawi, met with the Attaché for Scientific and University Cooperation at the French Embassy in Iraq, Ms. Pauline Lapointe, to discuss prospects for strengthening joint academic and research cooperation.
The meeting addressed the “Agri Iraq” project, which supports the agricultural sector and addresses environmental challenges and water scarcity in southern Iraq, as well as the French government’s grant (MOPGA 2027) for PhD-holding researchers in the fields of environment and climate.
The visit included a tour of the College of Agriculture’s facilities and laboratories to explore opportunities for implementing joint projects and developing academic exchange programs.
