University of Basrah Holds Workshop on Thomas Kuhn’s Theory of Scientific Revolutions
The College of Arts at the University of Basrah organized a workshop on Thomas Kuhn’s theory of scientific revolutions and the concept of the paradigm.
The workshop aimed to explain the shift from the traditional view of science as a linear accumulation of facts to an understanding of scientific knowledge as a historical and social process that progresses through distinct stages: normal science, crisis, and revolution.
The workshop featured a lecture by faculty member Amal Ali Jawad, who presented an analytical overview of Kuhn’s concept of the paradigm and the criticisms it has attracted. She also explained how science moves from normal science through crisis to scientific revolution, as well as the principle of incommensurability between paradigms.
