University of Basrah Reviews Medical Students' Academic Files with Provincial Council Chairman
The President of the University of Basrah, Dr. Aqeel Fadhil Al-Dahhan, received the Chairman of the Provincial Council, Mr. Khalaf Lafteh Al-Badran, and council members Dr. Shukr Mahmoud Sankour, Dr. Aqeel Talib Al-Fariji, and Mrs. Iman Karim Al-Maliki to discuss developments related to the demands of the medical students and to review the current situation.
In a related meeting, the university president met with the student representative at the College of Medicine, Mustafa Raad Jabbar, and representatives from various academic years. During the meeting, he outlined the details of the demonstrations, meetings, and ongoing communications with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. He also clarified that the claim regarding the suspension of the college dean was inaccurate.
Dr. Al-Dahhan affirmed that all the legitimate demands of the college students have the full attention and support of both the university administration and the ministry. He denied the rumors circulating about the suspension of the dean, explaining that these rumors are baseless, as such a suspension requires a complex legal process and lengthy procedures, and has not been initiated by any authority.
The university president announced that the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research will be visiting Basra Governorate this week, where he will meet directly with medical students and their representatives to listen in detail to their problems and demands and work towards resolving them. The president urged the students to heed the Minister's request to end their sit-in and resume classes, emphasizing the university's commitment to finding comprehensive and satisfactory solutions for all, within the framework of legal and educational regulations.
