Master's Thesis at the University of Basrah Examines Communicative Intentionality in the Letters of the Imams (peace be upon them)
A master's thesis at the College of Education for Human Sciences at the University of Basrah examined "Communicative Intentionality in the Letters of the Imams from Imam al-Hasan to Imam al-Sadiq (peace be upon them)."
The thesis, submitted by student Maryam Adel Muhammad, aimed to reveal how communicative intentionality is formed in these letters, and to clarify the intentional patterns and pragmatic dimensions revealed by the texts. This was achieved by relying on context, situation, linguistic means, syntactic structure, speech acts, and the letters included in the third part of the book "Letters of the Imams" by Sheikh Ali al-Ahmadi al-Miyanji, which comprises the letters of Imams al-Hasan, al-Husayn, Zayn al-Abidin, and al-Baqir (peace be upon them).
The study included a division of content to address the concept of intentionality and its origins in ancient Arab heritage, communicative intentionality between its philosophical foundations and its pragmatic dimension, as well as guiding and reformist intentionality in the letters of Imams al-Hasan and al-Husayn (peace be upon them), and educational and guiding intentionality in the letters of Imams Zayn al-Abidin and al-Baqir (peace be upon them).
