University of Basrah Organizes Workshop on Scientific Research Directives

The Marine Science Center at the University of Basrah organized a specialized workshop titled "Statistics and Directives for Scientific Research for the Academic Year 2026–2027."

The workshop aimed to overcome research obstacles, elevate scientific and research standards, and advance the center's academic journey towards higher levels of output and excellence.

Presented by the Head of the Scientific Affairs Division at the center, Dr. Ahmed Jassim Al-Shammari, the workshop discussed and evaluated statistical performance metrics for published, completed, and ongoing scientific research for the 2025–2026 academic year, comparing completion rates against the approved plan. It focused on identifying gaps and challenges to support decision-making, developing research strategy plans for the 2026–2027 academic year, and organizing and classifying research data. The workshop also analyzed key performance indicators (KPIs), causes of research delays, and corrective recommendations. Furthermore, it outlined research directives for the 2026–2027 academic year to familiarize researchers with accredited standard guidelines to ensure output quality, detailing scientific priorities, registration mechanisms, ethical approval protocols, execution and documentation procedures, and publishing and evaluation criteria.
