University of Basrah Organizes Awareness Seminar on the Scourge of Narcotics

On the occasion of Iraqi Anti-Drug Week, the Marine Science Center at the University of Basrah organized an awareness seminar titled "The Role of Academic Institutions in Preventing and Countering the Drug Phenomenon."

The seminar aimed to foster a conscious and safe university environment and develop preventive skills within the academic community to protect its members from the hazards of narcotics.

Presented by Dr. Mahmoud Shaker Hashim, the seminar addressed several core themes, including cognitive prevention, correcting misconceptions, exposing modern illicit promotion methods, and offering psychological and social support. It also highlighted enhancing self-immunity, managing psychological stress, and providing secure, confidential counseling channels on campus. Furthermore, the seminar emphasized community integration by leveraging scientific research and student activities to build an informed and resilient university community.
