University of Basrah Organizes Awareness Workshop on the Dangers of Illegal Migration and Youth Protection
⠀
The College of Administration and Economics, in cooperation with the Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basrah, organized an awareness workshop addressing the risks of illegal migration and strategies to protect young people from its repercussions.
⠀
Presented by faculty member Hala Shaker Mahmoud, the workshop aimed to highlight the root causes of illegal migration alongside its humanitarian and security hazards—specifically drowning and exploitation by human trafficking syndicates—while raising community awareness regarding its potential consequences.
⠀
The workshop recommended creating job opportunities and development projects for youth, intensifying public awareness campaigns, strengthening international cooperation to combat smuggling networks, and establishing safe, legal migration channels.
