University of Basrah Holds Online Seminar on Psychological Counselling and Nation-Building
The Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basrah, in collaboration with the College of Education for Women, held an online seminar entitled “Counselling in Achieving Victory and Building the Nation: A Historical Perspective on Iraqi Victory Day.”
The seminar aimed to highlight the role of psychological and educational counselling in strengthening psychological resilience and national belonging, countering rumours and extremist ideologies, promoting the values of coexistence and dialogue, and supporting the families of martyrs and those affected by conflict.
The seminar, delivered by Dr. Rafif Abdulhafidh Al-Riyahi and Dr. Doaa Adnan Ramadan, addressed the importance of student-led and voluntary initiatives in serving the community. It recommended activating university counselling programmes, raising awareness and fostering a sense of national responsibility, and using the anniversary of Iraqi Victory Day to reinforce the values of sacrifice, hard work, and service to the nation.
