University of Basrah Organizes Workshop on Laboratory Safety and Security

The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basrah organized a scientific training workshop for postgraduate students titled "Chemical, Biological, and Radiological Laboratory Safety and Security."

The workshop featured a lecture presented by faculty members from the Department of Physiology, Pharmacology, and Biochemistry, highlighting the fundamentals of laboratory work and mechanisms for avoiding hazards and emergency situations, thereby preventing the spread of pathogens or the occurrence of chemical and radiological leaks that threaten environmental and health safety. Speakers also reviewed protective measures, therapeutic solutions, and preliminary steps for commencing scientific experiments.

The workshop concluded with an emphasis on exercising caution and possessing full knowledge of the materials used, given that completing this workshop serves as a prerequisite for obtaining the approved safety certificate from the CBRN Committee.
