Joint Research paper by a Faculty Member and Researchers from the College of Engineering was Published in a Prestigious International Journal
Dr. Ghaydaa Abdul-Razzaq Al-Suhail, a faculty member at the College of Engineering, University of Baghdad, in collaboration with researcher Noor Saad Hannoun, published a research paper in the Swiss journal Applied System Innovation (ASI), published by the international publishing house MDPI.
The research discussed an intelligent framework based on Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for analyzing and classifying lung CT images into three categories: normal, benign, and malignant. It also tested five optimizers to compare learning behavior and performance stability, and integrated the interpretable artificial intelligence techniques Grad-CAM and t-SNE to clarify the regions influencing the model's decision.
The results showed a classification accuracy of 99.39%, a specificity of 99.45%, and an AUC of 100%, supporting the application of artificial intelligence in computer-aided diagnostic systems and medical image analysis.
