Graduate Students at the College of Arts Organize a Field Trip to Explore Basra's Spatial Memory
Master's students in the Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems at the College of Arts, University of Basrah, organized a scientific field trip to the site of Al Basrah Al Qadimah.
The visit aimed to provide firsthand experience of the spatial and architectural characteristics of Basra's heritage, introduce the students to its most prominent landmarks, buildings, and historical areas, and observe urban transformations and their impact on the city's urban fabric and historical identity.
The trip included a field inspection of heritage sites and a discussion of the changes the Old City has undergone. This contributed to bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications, and enhanced the graduate students' spatial research and analysis skills, particularly in the study of spatial memory and urban transformations.
