A master's thesis at the College of Science at the University of Basra discussed (sources and concentrations of black carbon emissions and its effects on global warming in Basra Governorate) for the student Abbas Thajil Obaid.
The study aims to measure the concentrations of black carbon emitted by burning gas in oil fields, road junctions, landfill sites and electric power stations, and to indicate the size of the contributions of different sources to black carbon concentrations in the atmospheric air, and to study environmental factors.
The study included measuring black carbon concentrations in oil fields, road intersections, electric power stations and landfill sites, as well as measuring the concentrations of some other air pollutants.
The study recommended the Basra Oil Company to conduct periodic checks for pollutants emitted from gas flares for control and treatment purposes, and to conduct laboratory analyzes of the soil near the oil fields for the purpose of reclamation, and for the Basra Oil Company to develop the infrastructure of oil facilities
