A doctoral thesis at University of Basrah examines the bond between old and new concrete in structures
A doctoral thesis at College of Engineering at University of Basrah examined the bond between old and new concrete in structures loaded with static and repetitive loads.
The thesis, presented by the student Tariq Imad Ibrahim, aims to conduct several tests to determine the differences in the behavior of several types of concrete in their fresh and hardened states as well as structural behavior.
The thesis concluded that increasing the age of old concrete leads to a similar decrease in the bonding strength and natural compressive stress of the samples, as the bonding strength decreased by 16.6, 25.4, and 28% for the sample with an old concrete age of 7 days and 28 days.
