Master's thesis at University of Basrah examines the legal regulation of radioactivity licenses
A master's thesis at College of Law at University of Basrah examined the legal regulation of radioactivity licenses in Iraqi legislation.
The thesis, submitted by student Zainab Majid Thamer, aims to demonstrate the importance of this field and the adequacy of the legislative texts that dealt with it in regulation, what are the procedures for granting licenses and the competent authority to grant them, the supervisory role that the administration exercises over those licensed to practice radioactivity, and the statement of the civil liability of the licensee in Iraqi legislation.
The thesis concluded that the legal texts that dealt with the regulation of radioactivity were not sufficient to provide the necessary protection for humans and the environment. For example, the legislator neglected to specify the duration of the license to practice this activity, which is a matter of utmost importance, as it is not permissible to leave its practice for an open period due to the danger of this activity.
