A scientific study at University of Basrah prepared by the lecturer Zahid Qasim Badan in College of Administration and Economics / Al-Qurna, entitled "Analyzing the effectiveness of zero-interest rates on the US macroeconomy during the period (2000-2020)"
Analyzing and exploiting the zero interest rate applied by the US Federal Reserve and its impact on macroeconomic variables during the period 2000-2020. This is done using the joint integration model to address the economic and financial crises facing the economy and overcome the deflationary conditions resulting from shocks and crises (economic contraction).
The study, published in the World Economics and Finance Bulletin, showed that zero interest rates have the ability to confront economic crises and shocks (economic contraction) and find appropriate solutions within the American economy, and push economic growth forward without relying on solutions that may cause future harm to the economy, such as relying on reducing exchange rates or external borrowing.
