A doctoral thesis at College of Arts at University of Basrah examined the critical vision in Italo Calvino's literary works.
The thesis presented by researcher Zainab Jawad Musa aims to shed light on the critical viewpoint of Italo Calvino's literary works, in which he employed philosophical standards and categories logically in critical discourse, and selected critical terms related to authenticity and modernity.
The thesis concluded that Calvino's critical vision was formed after he discovered various methods and conducted various experiments to reach the scientific method, and he showed his vision in light of his relationship with the world through perspectives based on confrontation and rationality with practical and ethical attempts, as he showed in his book (Six Commandments for the Next Millennium), which included his future vision of literature stemming from impressionistic criticism and his high taste in appreciating creative work.
