University of Basrah in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) holds a training course for farmers and agricultural engineers
College of Agriculture at University of Basrah, in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), held a training course on the manufacture of biochar enhanced with nutrients from locally produced organic waste in a tomato farm in Safwan District, as part of the activities of the project funded by the European Union.
The course aimed to improve agricultural practices and develop the value of tomato and palm farms in Basrah Governorate. It is the first course in a series of courses for general cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
The course, in which Professor Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Abdul Karim and Dr. Amin Hussein Jabal lectured, included a theoretical lecture given in the building of the Safwan Agricultural Cooperative Society in Safwan District, during which the importance of the project and the benefits achieved from it were explained, and the manufacturing steps were identified in the presence of a number of farmers, agricultural engineers and coordinators of the organization. After that, they moved to one of the tomato farms in Safwan District, which was implemented The project included a detailed review of the manufacturing steps and the preparation of the product from its raw materials in a practical manner through the implementation of a yellow experiment of the manufacturing steps in front of the attendees.
