A scientific study at University of Basrah examines the hydraulic impact of the dike on Shatt al-Arab.
A scientific study at University of Basrah prepared by the lecturer in College of Education for Human Sciences at University of Basrah, Muhammad Qahtan Neama, examined a development of a mathematical model to determine the hydraulic impact of the proposed dike on Shatt al-Arab in Siba area.
The study, published in the Mesopotamia Journal of Marine Sciences, classified within the (IASJ) magazines, showed the need to establish a regulatory dike to prevent sea water intrusion by developing a one-dimensional unstable mathematical model through which a specific range of discharges was used to represent cases of scarcity, medium and abundance.
The results of the study concluded that the proposed discharges will significantly affect the navigational depths of the river, especially in cases of programmed opening.
