University of Basrah organizes a symposium on the social and economic effects of the terrorism in Iraq.
College of Administration and Economics in Al-Qurna at University of Basrah organized a scientific symposium entitled "The Social and Economic Effects of the Phenomenon of Terrorism in Iraq".
The symposium aimed to shed light on the profound negative effects left by terrorist operations on the social fabric in Iraq, and the imbalances and confusion they caused in many vital economic sectors in the country.
The symposium, which was lectured by Dr. Adnan Farhan Al-Jawrani and Dr. Zahid Qasim Badan, included a presentation for a set of economic indicators and statistics that illustrate the extent of the terrorism impact on Iraqi society. In addition to its significant impact on the national economy and infrastructure. The losses incurred by vital sectors such as oil, tourism, trade, and electricity as a result of terrorist activities were also discussed.
The symposium concluded with a number of important recommendations, most notably the need to restructure the Iraqi economy as a rentier economy that relies primarily on natural resources, and to enhance the role of media and education in combating terrorist ideology and limiting its spread.
