A doctoral thesis at University of Basrah examines the effect of the drug sulfa on poultry parasites.
A doctoral thesis at College of Veterinary Medicine at University of Basrah examined the effect of a new derivative of sulfa drug as an anti-parasite for poultry coccidia.
The thesis submitted by the student Hiba Abdul Hussein Kazim aims to study the effect of sulfa drug against Eimeria parasite to reduce side effects and to develop parasitic drugs resistance.
The thesis included the preparation of the new sulfamethazine derivative and making a spectral analysis of the prepared compound by measuring infrared rays and proton nuclear magnetic resonance and accurate elemental analysis of carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen atoms. In addition to conducting an experimental study of the new sulfamethazine derivative on broiler chickens infected with coccidia to know its effect on the parasite that causes this disease.
