A doctoral thesis at University of Basrah Investigates Reduction of Side Effects in Experimental Mice.
A doctoral thesis from College of Agriculture at University of Basrah examined the preparation of functional beverages and their properties and effectiveness in reducing chemotherapy's side effects on experimental mice's digestive system.
The thesis, presented by researcher Abdul Rahman Hasan Lafta, focused on the readiness of the prepared beverages and their impact on mitigating the side effects of chemotherapy in mice with breast cancer. The mice were injected with both chemotherapy and the prepared beverages. Liver, kidney, and intestine function tests were followed up.
The study concluded that the prepared beverages significantly reduced the side effects of chemotherapy by decreasing hepatotoxicity and nephrotoxicity and restoring the balance of beneficial gut bacteria in the cancerous mice undergoing chemotherapy.
