University of Basrah Organizes a Symposium on Protecting Children from Domestic Violence
The College of Dentistry at Basrah University organized a symposium focused on protecting children from domestic violence.
The symposium aims to shed light on the concept of domestic violence, its types, manifestations, causes, and the most affected groups. It seeks to understand the motivations leading to domestic violence and explores its physical, behavioral, psychological, and social impacts. Additionally, the symposium highlights prevention and treatment methods.
The event included several research papers discussing the concept of violence as intentionally directed behavior intended to harm others. It emphasized that violence against women and children is a clear violation of human rights, preventing them from enjoying their full rights. This form of violence has serious consequences that impact not only women but also the entire society, underscoring that this phenomenon is foreign to the customs and traditions of Iraqi society, which is known for its familial cohesion.
