University of Basrah Organizes a Discussion Session on the Neem Tree and its Uses
The College of Agriculture at University of Basrah organized a discussion session on neem trees, their cultivation and characteristics.
The session, in which Dr. Anaa Dawood lectured, aims to point out the most important characteristics of the plant and the nature of the conditions that the tree needs and its uses in the field of combating insects, diseases and nematodes, as well as its pharmaceutical uses and in the field of cosmetics manufacturing.
The session addressed the importance of neem trees in the environment and improving soil properties, improving them and improving the soil, as well as the importance of active substances in the various parts of the tree from leaves, flowers, seeds, fruits, bark and wood as well.
According to a previous study, it was recommended that neem trees should be planted on the borders of cities and agricultural fields because they stabilize the soil and act as windbreaks and because their leaves produce insect repellent compounds.
