Basrah University Participates in the Iraqi Universities Swimming Championship 2024
Basrah University swimming team is participating in the swimming championship held at Baghdad University, which began yesterday with the participation of seventy governmental and private universities after a long hiatus.
Basrah University team is represented by four swimmers, as stated by the Director of the Student Activities Department, Dr. Ghassan Al-Bajari. He said, "We are participating with four competitors in various races, including 100-meter and 50-meter distances, categorized into freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and medley." The championship aims to encourage the practice of swimming among university students, discover young talents in this field, and enhance bonding and cooperation among Iraqi universities.
Al-Bajari attributed the lack of tangible results by the Basrah University team in the championship to the team's unpreparedness due to limited capabilities and a lack of training units stemming from the absence of infrastructure, including the lack of an Olympic pool for training and the absence of alternative private pools for player training.
