Basrah University Organizes Workshop on Agricultural Drainage Systems and Factors Influencing Their Selection
The Faculty of Agriculture at Basrah University organized a workshop on agricultural drainage systems and the factors influencing their selection.
Lectured by Dr. Diaa Sabahi Ashour, the workshop aimed to introduce participants to the importance of drainage for Iraqi soils and the systems used.
The workshop addressed the causes of water accumulation on the soil surface or within its body, as well as the reasons leading to soil salinization and the deterioration of its properties. It highlighted the role of various drainage systems in addressing these issues. Additionally, the workshop included an introduction to the types of drainage systems, their construction methods, the technical specifications for each, and how to choose the appropriate drainage system for the soil based on soil, water, and vegetation factors.
