Basrah University Organizes Seminar on Antibiotics and Their Resistance
The College of Veterinary Medicine at Basrah University organized an educational seminar on antibiotics and their resistance as part of the Global Antibiotic Resistance Awareness Week activities.
The seminar aimed to highlight the misuse of antibiotics and introduce the term Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).
The seminar, presented by Dr. Khawla Badr Nasser, Head of the Laboratory Division at the Veterinary Hospital, included a review of the latest developments regarding antibiotic resistance, the reasons behind this resistance, and ways to mitigate it.
The seminar recommended completing the prescribed course of treatment, adhering to the restriction of not giving antibiotics to animals during the sale and marketing period, and emphasized the importance of inspecting imported drugs and subjecting them to supervision.
