A Faculty Member from Basrah University Participates in a Feminist Thought Conference
Dr. Muqdad Abdul Imam Abood, a faculty member in the College of Arts, University of Basrah, participated in an international conference organized by the Turkish "Rimar" Academy on the concept of feminism in novels.
The participation involved presenting a research paper titled "American and Feminist Thought in the Novel 'The Color Purple' by Alice Walker."
The research aimed to introduce the concept of feminism in the novel 'The Color Purple,' where the events unfold in a patriarchal southern setting. It portrays women like Celie, who struggle against societal forces that deprive them of autonomy and agency, through Celie's journey of abuse and eventual self-discovery.
