Professors at University of Basrah Publish Research in an Australian Journal
Dr. Falah Hassan Shari and Instructor Raafat Muhammad from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah have published a research paper titled 'Topical Anti-inflammatory Formulations from Medicinal Plant Extracts: Stability, Efficacy, and Cytokine Modification in a Carrageenan-Induced Paw Edema Model' in the Australian journal Angiotherapy, which is classified in the fourth quartile of the Scopus index.
The research includes a study of plant-based alternatives to anti-inflammatory agents with fewer side effects compared to traditional non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as turmeric (Curcuma longa), ginger (Zingiber officinale), frankincense (Boswellia serrata), ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), and gotu kola (Centella asiatica), all of which have anti-inflammatory properties.
