University of Basrah Organizes a Discussion Session on the Bottlebrush Tree
The College of Pharmacy at University of Basrah organized a discussion session on the bottlebrush tree.
The session, in which Dr. Ula Aadil lectured, aimed to clarify the biological effectiveness of the plant and its role in treating diseases and environmental control, and to clarify the chemical compounds and active ingredients contained in the plant leaves, in addition to the method of extracting volatile oil from the plant leaves.
The discussion session showed that this tree belongs to the myrtle family, and there are several types of glassbrush tree such as: willow, lemon tree, crimson, alpine, and thorny bottle. It was named this name because its flowers resemble a bottle cleaning brush. It is a tree with a strong, brown trunk, tolerates a degree of salinity, and prefers direct lighting and moderate and regular irrigation. It grows well in well-drained soil. When rubbed, its leaves give off an aromatic scent similar to citrus fruits such as lemon.
