Ph.D. Thesis at University of Basrah Explores Financial Sustainability in Iraq
A Ph.D. thesis from the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Basrah examined financial sustainability within the framework of macroeconomic policies in Iraq for the period 2004-2024.
The researcher, Ban Yaseen Maki, highlighted the impact of macroeconomic policies on achieving financial sustainability in Iraq by using various financial, monetary, and trade indicators.
The thesis aimed to measure these indicators and analyze their effectiveness using the ARDL (Auto-Regressive Distributed Lag) and Lagrange Multiplier (LM) methodologies.
The study concluded, after conducting several statistical tests, that financial sustainability in Iraq was achieved during the study period. However, it remains weak due to a reliance on a single resource: crude oil, which is subject to depletion.
