University of Basrah Organizes Lecture on Writing Iraq's History
The College of Arts at the University of Basrah organized a lecture on writing the contemporary history of Iraq in recent decades.
The lecture aims to shed light on the ambiguities that still surround various aspects of contemporary Iraqi history and to study certain issues and events that require further research and examination.
The lecture, presented by Dr. Mushtaq Eid Aidan, a faculty member, included an explanation of historical writing methodologies such as the "Positivist School," which sanctifies the "written and documented," relying on official documents and correspondences. This approach perpetuates the one-sided perspective established by official history and its creators, influenced by the whims, interests, and relationships of the ruling class forces.
