University of Basrah Organizes a Discussion Session on the Mounjaro Injection
The College of Pharmacy at University of Basrah organized a discussion session entitled (Mounjaro® (tirzepatide) injection: The first GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes).
The session, which was lectured by the lecturer Shaima Nadem Kazim, aimed to raise awareness of the risks of this injection, especially if there is a family history of a type of thyroid cancer called medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or if the patient has a condition in the endocrine system called multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2 (MEN 2).
The session included a discussion of the use of the Mounjaro (tirzepatide) injection to treat type 2 diabetes to help lower blood sugar levels. Tirzepatide is also known to help with weight loss. Mounjaro is an injection that is taken once a week and should be used with diet and exercise.
