A Lecturer at Basrah University Publishes a Scientific Article in an American Scientific Journal
A lecturer at the Marine Sciences Center at the University of Basrah, Dr. Wesal Awda Hassan, published a scientific review article in cooperation with other researchers entitled: "Using emerging lactic acid bacteria as an anti-cancer and anti-tumor agent for human health" in the magazine (Heliyon) issued by the American publishing house (Cell Press).
The journal, which has a Scopus rating with an impact factor of (Q4), is concerned with publishing articles, research and studies related to microorganisms.
The article addressed the verification of the potential of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) and their use as an agent to combat cancer and tumors. They are antimicrobial peptides manufactured by ribosomes, which can be used to preserve food due to their ability to combat microorganisms.
The article shed light on the mechanisms of action, measuring the spectrum of activity, clinical effects and future effects. Thus, the article is a major achievement in the academic journey, as it not only provides an addition to the current body of knowledge, but also opens new horizons for research and development in the field of cancer treatment.
