To achieve sustainable water development, University of Basrah organizes a course on measuring carbon in water samples.
The Marine Science Center at the University of Basrah organized a course on measuring organic carbon in water samples using the TOC Analyser device.
The course aimed to study and evaluate water quality and measure pollution levels in laboratory-drawn samples and train participants on using the TOC Analyser device, which has a wide range of applications from analyzing drinking and treated water to soil and molecular biology. This makes it valuable for modern research laboratories and companies involved in production and quality control.
The course covered the use of organic carbon to measure pollution as an alternative to other methods for measuring the biochemical and chemical oxygen demand in water. These traditional methods require a long time and involve environmentally harmful chemicals. Organic carbon concentrations are considered a more accurate indicator of the state of degradation in aquatic environments, especially when exposed to pollutants from organic and chemical waste such as plastics and domestic sewage.
