University of Basrah holds the graduation ceremony for the 57th batch, Science and Construction Program
The University of Basrah organized the central student graduation ceremony for the 57th batch, named the Science and Construction Program 2024, at Al-Minaa Stadium.
The event was attended by the President of the Southern Technical University, the representative of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Adnan Abdullah Ateeq, Engineer Asaad Al-Eidani, the head of the local government in Basrah, the commander of the Sacred Popular Mobilization Brigade (41), Hajj Abu Dhafer Al-Ziyadi, and several official figures representing various governmental and security sectors, as well as a large gathering of faculty members, students, staff, and their families.
In his opening speech, the President of the University of Basrah, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Al-Asadi, addressed the attendees, saying, "I greet you on this blessed day on the occasion of the graduation of a distinguished group of our sons and daughters within this esteemed institution. It remains exemplary in every measure, continuing its mission to create an ideal educational environment that accommodates the constant changes in a rapidly evolving world amid technological and cognitive advancements."
Al-Asadi added, "Today, we gather to celebrate the graduation of the 57th class, Science and Construction, with a total of 13,646 graduates distributed across the morning and evening studies. The number of top graduates reached about 111 students. These students are graduates from this giant academic edifice, to whom we have endeavored to provide knowledge, skills, a spirit of challenge, determination, creativity, and a comprehensive set of professional ethics."
Meanwhile, the representative of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Adnan Abdullah Ateeq congratulated the University of Basrah and its students on the graduation of a new batch of students, affirming the ministry's commitment to strengthening the educational process across all Iraqi universities and enhancing the educational environment to accelerate the universities' advancement in global rankings. Ateeq pointed out that graduation should not be considered the end of an educational phase but rather the beginning of a journey of nation-building and community service, filled with challenges and opportunities. He emphasized the ministry's great confidence in the students, referring to them as ambassadors of knowledge and enlightenment in various fields of life.
The ceremony included a tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed dearly to protect the nation and holy sites, an impressive display by the Popular Mobilization Brigade (41), and a parade of university students reciting the university oath.
