University of Basrah Organizes a Seminar on the Dangers of Marriage Outside the Courts
The College of Law at Basrah University, in collaboration with the Southern Cultural Center, organized a seminar addressing the dangers of marriages conducted outside judicial institutions.
The seminar aims to raise awareness about the risks associated with entering into marriage contracts outside the competent courts.
The seminar included two lectures delivered by Dr. Ali Abdul Aali Al-Asadi, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs at the College of Law, and Sheikh Jaafar Al-Bubasiri. They highlighted the potential harm of contracts concluded outside competent courts, which can lead to legal disputes and the loss of parties' rights. Additionally, entering into a marriage contract outside the courts is considered a criminal offense under the Personal Status Law, punishable by imprisonment or fines as per Article (10/5).
