A PHD thesis at University of Basrah investigates the design of marine berth structures
A PHD thesis in the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah examined the optimal design of marine berth structures under the influence of dynamic loads.
The thesis included performing optimization studies using MATLAB, employing the Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm (MOGA) method to solve a fourth and fifth-degree polynomial function that simulates the relationship between stresses and design variables.
The thesis, presented by the student Ibtisam Ahmed Jarrah, aims to design the structure using a two-node beam element for steel piles and beams, a four-node thick shell element for the concrete slab, and an eight-node brick element for the soil.
